Fragile is the fourth album by the UK progressive rock group Yes. Fragile was the first album with Rick Wakeman after the departure of Tony Kaye. It was also the first Yes album to feature cover art by Roger Dean.
Fragile was issued in the UK in 1971 and it peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and reached #7 in the UK album chart.
The design by Roger Dean depicts a small planet on the front cover and on the back, the planet has begun to break up and it’s population is escaping in a peculiar wooden ‘space glider’. This concept later inspired Jon Anderson’s solo album, Olias of Sunhillow.
Fragile’s accompanying promotional booklet contains two additional Roger Dean paintings. Booklet’s front cover depicts five odd creatures huddled under a root system; the back cover depicts a person climbing up a rock formation. Since Fragile Roger Dean has designed several covers for Yes as well as other bands.
